One of the white supremacists featured prominently in a documentary about the violence that erupted in Charlottesville, Virginia, posted an emotional video where he cries as he discusses a warrant being issued for his arrest.
Cantwell says that the Charlottesville Police Department couldn’t confirm that Cantwell has a warrant out for his arrest, but his voice trembles as he talks about the ordeal that has unfolded. As the video goes on, Cantwell blames counterprotesters for things becoming violent.
It was a neo-Nazi sympathizer who allegedly rammed his car into a crowd of people counterprotesting the white supremacy rally, killing one person.
“We have done everything in our power to keep this peaceful,” Cantwell says in the video. “I know we talk a lot of shit on the internet, right? But, like, literally, Jason Kessler applied for a permit, like, months ago for this… They just won’t stop. We have done everything in our power, we have used every peaceful and lawful means by which to redress our grievances, and our enemies will just not stop.”
Cantwell continues to lament what his “enemies” have done before using a transphobic slur to describe Chelsea Manning.
“We are trying to make this peaceful, and we’re trying to be law abiding,” he said, before telling everyone watching his phone number and asking for guidance.
